The worst outcome for a startup is not failure — it’s mediocrity.
‘Lettering vs Calligraphy’ is a project by Giuseppe Salerno and Martina Flor. It consists of a visual dialogue between a letterer and a calligrapher, where they draw/write a letter responding to a keyword given by a moderator. The adventure aims to explore the capabilities of the two technical approaches. It delivers one letter daily and takes place online, where the visitors are invited to vote for their favourite.
I love most of my clients, but every so often you run into a stinker. These are real client quotes compiled by an agency in Ireland and are availbale as posters.
Personally, I have heard a few of these recently. But last week I had had one of the worst. A client suggested changing a logo which that was supplied to them and which they have no control over. The comment was, “Can we change the clouds to peoples faces?” Funnier still, they weren’t even clouds. They were the silhouette of trees in front of a building.

A cool short video for creative inspiration put together by Behance promoting the triumphs and pitfalls facing creative individuals. If you don’t have an online portfolio, I would highly recommend using Behance. It is fairly easy to use, it’s free for the intro level, it’s a great source for project inspiration, has good job postings and integrates well with LinkedIn. It seems like side projects are all the rage right now. I guess they are sort of like hobbies with business potential. I’ve had these since starting my business over 20 years ago and use it for creative exploration and to keep in touch with trends. Right now I’m working on a functional art concept and a “garage” resin dinosaur model kit side project.
